Dyea Summers, PA-C, DipACLM, CHC, is a Physician Assistant at Tree House Recovery in Portland, Oregon, specializing in addiction medicine and medication management. She provides evidence-based medication recommendations and medically clears clients to participate in Tree House’s physical modalities, communicating any physical limitations to the clinical team so care can be safely adapted to each client’s needs.
What to Expect When Working with Dyea
Dyea believes effective care begins with listening to each client’s goals, values, and lived experience. Her approach centers on shared decision-making and client autonomy, providing clear, evidence-based treatment recommendations while empowering clients to make informed decisions about their care.
She takes a whole-person approach to recovery, incorporating Lifestyle Medicine principles—including nutrition, movement, restorative sleep, stress management, meaningful connection, and behavioral health—alongside appropriate medications. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, she partners with clients to develop practical, sustainable strategies that support their individual recovery goals.
An Emphasis on Nutrition and Sleep
While the Tree House team brings expertise in exercise, stress management, substance-use prevention, and community building, Dyea’s primary areas of focus are nutrition and sleep.
Through “Food for Mood” sessions, she teaches clients how to prepare affordable, whole-food meals while emphasizing small, sustainable changes. In individual sessions, she helps clients identify personalized nutrition goals and develop practical strategies to achieve them.
Dyea also supports healthy sleep habits, recognizing that sleep is often disrupted during early recovery. Across both areas, she draws on motivational interviewing and health coaching to help clients identify meaningful goals and make sustainable changes that align with their values and priorities.
Outside of Work
When she’s not at Tree House, Dyea enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, exploring the Pacific Northwest, and staying active outdoors. She also co-founded a local nonprofit supporting children and families living with Type 1 diabetes. She values time with family, community, and the simple practices that support health and well-being in everyday life.
