Get plugged into the Portland scene.
September is an exciting time in Portland. Summer is coming to an end and the first crisp breaths of fall are upon us. There are plenty of fun activities that don’t revolve around drugs and/or alcohol. Some are local. Others require a bit of a road trip. Either way, there’s something for everyone this September. Whether you’re into music, art, festivals, movies, or exploring the beautiful city of Portland, you’ll have lots to do. Here are just a few of the possibilities for Portland, Oregon happenings this month.
Harvest Fest
A harvest festival is a classic way to ring in autumn. At Carlton Crush, a festival about 36-miles southwest of the city, there’s a grape-stomping competition, local artists, live music, tons of festival food, and even a barrel-rolling race. Entry is free and it promises to be a rollicking good time. The festival is on September 7th.
Movies in the Park
Movies in the Park is a classic Portland summer-fall activity. If you haven’t had a chance to check out an outdoor movie, September 1st promises to be a fun one. There’s also local musicians and free popcorn. Bring your coat, friends, and a blanket.
Free Museum Day
On September 21st, you have the opportunity to visit any museum in the state of Oregon for free. You and a friend can museum-hop for zero dollars all around Oregon. Check out the Museum Day Live website for a list of participating museums.
Northeast Portland Sunday Parkways
Take to the streets on September 22nd, when cars are banned on 8 miles of Portland streets. Walk, bike, roller-skate, or jog and enjoy activities and music at local parks. The event is free and the only requirement is that you don’t bring your car.
Anderson Cooper in Portland
Are you an Anderson Cooper fan? Then you’re in luck, as he’s going to be speaking at Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall on September 27th about his experiences as a journalist and childhood. Ticket prices range from $60-$75.
